Stained Glass Roundel Design Competition: A Sharing of Practice
Winners of previous competitions will discuss the inspirations that informed their entry and how they translated their research into a narrative on glass that reflects the life, interests and achievements of the former Lord Mayor recipient.
The past winners discussing their entries will be Jayne Ford, Julia Gonyou, Alisoun Howie, Siobhan Rimmer, Helen Brough, and Elizabeth Sinkova. We will also hear from Chair of Judges and leading professional stained-glass artist Helen Whittaker (Barley Studio) and former Master of the Glaziers Livery Company Colin Freeman.
We will discuss the history of the event and the competition, with contributions from former Lord Mayor of London and Reflections of the Lord Mayor champion Sir David Wootton and Sea Cadets Commander London Region James Nisbet.
The event’s Facilitator is David Stringer-Lamarre, Upper Warden, Chairman of the Membership, Development and Social Committee of the Glaziers’ Livery. Reflections of the Lord Mayor’s founder and organiser Chris Seow will also be saying a few words of introduction.
This will be your opportunity to hear from our distinguished judges and exceptional stained-glass artists who have previously won the Reflections of The Lord Mayor Roundel Design Competition. You will also be able to submit questions about how the competition works, what the prize entails and how to start drawing up ideas and inspirations for your stained-glass roundel entry for the 2023 competition.
This event is designed for practising and student artists, art teachers, those with a professional or cultural interest in the art form of stained glass and anyone who wishes to find out more about the competition and civic background of the Reflections of the Lord Mayor event.
