Our Identity

Archiving Legacy. Inspiring Stewardship. Empowering Creativity.

At Reflections of the Lord Mayor, our work is guided by a philosophy of Striving for Excellence in Our Work.

Striving for Excellence in Our Work (SEOW) is a call to aim higher, act with integrity, and create with purpose. It is also, meaningfully, the surname of our founder, a reminder that personal heritage can shape collective vision. While rooted in culture, SEOW is not a separate brand, but the ethos that animates everything Reflections does.

Our emblem brings this ethos to life through three symbols:

The Dragon
Strength, guardianship, and endurance. Drawn from Chinese heritage, it reflects courage in the face of challenge and the responsibility to protect community.

The Phoenix
Renewal, transformation, and hope. In flight, it represents the creative spirit and the belief that every generation can build a brighter future.

The Sword / Dagger
An echo of City of London heraldry, symbolising stewardship, civic duty, and justice. A reminder that excellence is inseparable from responsibility.

These elements are balanced by a carefully chosen colour palette:

Red embodies vitality, courage, and creative energy — linking Eastern associations of joy and fortune with Western traditions of strength and sacrifice.

Black conveys grounding and dignity, ensuring that vision is matched by accountability and discipline.

White (negative space) symbolises openness and possibility — a canvas for new stories to be written.

Together, these motifs form a visual standard: personal yet universal, cultural yet civic.

At its heart lies our guiding motto:

“Striving for Excellence in Our Work. Inspired by who we are. Shared with pride.”

This is both a personal affirmation and a collective promise.
It speaks to the pride of individuals who bring their best selves to their work, and to the strength of communities who share excellence openly and generously.

In short:
Reflections is the platform.
SEOW is the ethos that gives it purpose.
