The judges were very impressed with this outstanding entry with strong composition, design, detail and colour that will translate well into stained glass. A meaningful narrative explaining the choice of elements in the design, and some of the lessons learnt from taking part in this competition.

This was a wonderful opportunity for students to apply their creative ideas to a brief and to work within the constraints of both process and the expectation of the client. There was undoubted excitement (and perhaps a little trepidation!) that their design was to be interpreted by highly skilled glaziers and glass painters and that the end result was to celebrate the significant contributions of the Lord Mayor. To be able to see the process through from kernel of idea through to finished article is a unique privilege.
