Join us for the 2026 Reflections Gala Evening, celebrating the mayoralty of Sir Alastair King, the 696th Lord Mayor of London.

Following the announcement of Sir Alastair’s Knighthood in the King’s Birthday Honours, this year’s Gala carries an additional sense of celebration. The honour recognises his service to pensions reform, the promotion of international business, and voluntary and charitable service — themes closely aligned with a mayoralty shaped by civic duty, global engagement and purposeful growth.

This landmark civic gathering brings together leaders from business, culture, education, charitable life and public service for an evening of reflection, conversation and connection.

A Mayoralty of “Growth Unleashed”

As Lord Mayor, Sir Alastair served as the City of London’s global ambassador for UK financial and professional services, championing “Growth Unleashed” — a call to restore confidence, unlock investment and support responsible, forward-looking growth.

His mayoralty focused on:

  • strengthening international partnerships and representing the City on the global stage;
  • mobilising capital for innovation, productivity and early-stage enterprise;
  • championing inclusion, collaboration and civic responsibility across communities and sectors.

Together, these priorities reinforced London’s role as a global centre — grounded in tradition, yet confidently future-facing.

An Evening of Reflection and Civic Storytelling

The Reflections Gala Evening blends the pageantry of the City with contemporary dialogue. Guests will enjoy a reception, dining and a ceremonial programme rooted in London’s civic heritage.

Guests can expect the same thoughtful hospitality and sense of occasion that have defined the Reflections Gala Evening in previous years.

At the heart of the evening, Sir Alastair will share a personal reflection on his mayoralty — the challenges faced, partnerships built and opportunities ahead — offering insight into the stewardship of a global city in a changing world.

Taking place shortly after the announcement of his Knighthood, the 11th Reflections Gala Evening will be both a celebration of his year as Lord Mayor and a fitting moment to honour a wider record of civic, charitable and public service.

Celebrating 10 Years of Reflections in Stained Glass

The 2026 Gala marks a special milestone: ten years of Reflections in Stained Glass — a creative tradition capturing civic leadership through commissioned artworks that unite craft, memory and public service.

To mark this anniversary, Reflections will continue its tradition of donating £1,118 to the Gala Evening’s beneficiary charity. For 2026, the donation will be made to the British Liver Trust, selected by Sir Alastair King DL.

The amount is intentionally chosen. When spoken in Cantonese, 1,118 carries connotations of everyday good fortune — a small but meaningful symbol of blessing, continuity and goodwill.

This quiet gesture reflects the values on which the Gala was founded: care, continuity and meaning over scale.
