Uma Bassi – Twickenham – Junior Sea Cadet – Winner – 2020

1st place: Junior Sea Cadet Uma Bassi
Sir Charles Bowman
Twickenham
“The judges felt that Bassi’s design offered something innovative, the scale of the single flower being offset against other features such as the hot air balloons. Their design was full of visual interest, demonstrating the strong association with ‘storytelling’ in stained glass. Bassi’s design and description showcase many of the activities championed by Sir Charles Bowman in his mayoralty year, notably the notion of the ‘continuum’. “
"The Lord Mayor's Roundel competition offered my young Junior Sea Cadets the chance to think beyond our little Unit and cast their thoughts to the wider London community we are apart of. Aided by the inspired leadership of our lead instructor for the Junior Sea Cadets, their designs were exceptional and we were delighted to see our cadets achieve recognition, including Uma Bassi's winning design. Not only is it a reflection of our wider community, which we are proud to be a part of, but is a humbling insight to an extraordinary imagination from such a young and intelligent cadet. We are delighted for Uma to have achieved the recognition she has."
